Indiana Takes Advantage Of Cold Cavs To Grab Five-Point Lead After Three

The third quarter turned into a festival of shoot-and-miss for both teams tonight, with Indiana having a little better of it to move from a halftime tie to a five-point lead entering the final 12 minutes.

The Cavs shot 26% in the third quarter, but fortunately for Cleveland, the Pacers were not much better.

For Cleveland, Antawn Jamison leads four players in double-figures with 13. Jamison grabbed his knee late in the quarter, but is in the game in the fourth stanza, so hopefully all is well with Antawn.

Danica Patrick Has Target on Her as She Learns Lessons at Phoenix

The stock car education of Danica Patrick provided some graduate school lessons in bumping and banging at Phoenix International Raceway Saturday.

"I feel like I have a target on me," Patrick said at one point during a long day on the one-mile oval.

Patrick finished 32nd, seven laps down, after tagging the wall with 43 laps to go while running in 25th. She had to make an unscheduled pit stop to change tires and repair the damage, and that's where she lost most of the extra laps.

Her car lost traction and became loose while running below Michael Annett through turn one. She lost control, nearly spun and hit the wall with the right rear of her car, but was able to continue until making the emergency stop.

Earlier, Patrick got shoved around and did some of her own shoving with two other drivers, Tony Raines and Alex Kennedy.

Patrick gave some payback to Kennedy, hitting his rear bumper as she shot past on one lap just before she hit the wall.

"There's some people out here that haven't played fair today," she said on her radio just before the wall-banging incident.

Carl Edwards Runs Away With Phoenix NASCAR Race

Carl Edwards ran like Kyle Busch usually does, and Busch ran into some uncommon trouble, as Edwards romped to victory after dominating the NASCAR Nationwide series race at Phoenix International Raceway Saturday.

Edwards beat Kevin Harvick by 5.2 seconds after thoroughly dominating the race, leading 153 of the 200 laps.

It was Edwards' second consecutive victory in the Nationwide series, his third of the year and the 28th of his Nationwide career.

"Awesome, awesome car, guys," Edwards told veteran crew chief Mike Beam and the rest of the team on the radio after taking the checkered flag. "That's the best car I've ever had in the Nationwide series."

Joey Logano finished third, followed by 2010 Nationwide champion Brad Keselowski and Reed Sorenson. Danica Patrick finished 32nd after an eventful day of beating and banging with other cars.

Busch finished 16th after being forced to make an unscheduled pit stop late in the race with a deflating tire.

"That was the best race car I've ever had," Edwards reiterated after the race."That's is. That car is so easy to drive and so fast through the corners, I'm just very, very lucky to be driving it. Everything was good. That's a really, really good race car."

Jets find a way on Sanchez's first 300 yard day

[Game Book]

I did not see this game because I was in Cleveland at Colt McCoy's first NFL start; but I've got to get it in the archives somehow because it was a big win for Mark Sanchez and the Jets coming from behind to win in Overtime.

The game was Sanchez's first 300 yard game of his career.

This was also the game in which Matthew Stafford was lost for the year.

The Cavaliers have lost three straight games at The Q this season.

Now that LeBron James is in Miami, the Cleveland Cavaliers will try to continue their recent dominance of the Central Division-rival Indiana Pacers when the two teams collide tonight at Quicken Loans Arena.

Cleveland took three of four meetings a year ago and has won 16 of the last 19 meetings between the teams. The Pacers have lost 11 of 13 games at the Q.

The Cavaliers began a three-game homestand with Wednesday's 95-87 loss versus New Jersey, as J.J. Hickson scored 15 points and Antawn Jamison added 14 points and nine boards. The Cavs had a three-game winning streak stopped.

"They outworked us, especially in the fourth quarter," Cleveland head coach Byron Scott said. "You have to give them credit. They did a much better job of staying with our guys and getting through screens. We have a young team and we're going to learn from this."

Cleveland will also host Philadelphia on the residency. On the injury front for the Cavs, center Anderson Varejao (ribs) is questionable and guard Mo Williams (groin) is listed as doubtful for Saturday.

Indiana, meanwhile, suffered a 102-99 loss versus Houston Friday night and got 19 points from James Posey in defeat.

Roy Hibbert added 18 points with eight rebounds for the Pacers, who have lost three of their last four games. Danny Granger netted 17 points.

"They got it done on both ends," Posey said of the Rockets. "They came up with key rebounds on both ends of the floor and made shots when they had the opportunity."

Indiana, which was coming off a 144-113 win over Denver and scored a franchise-best 54 points in the third quarter, committed 22 personal fouls last night that led to 17 made free throws for the Rockets.

Strongsville's big man commits to Hawkeyes

In the midst of the excitement and rush of high school sports, if you look hard enough, you will find a very down to earth and humble Aaron White. He possesses plenty of basketball talents, including a 6 foot 7 stature, and incredible wingspan, but effort and resilience are his most admirable qualities; of which have gotten him the opportunity to play college basketball in the Big Ten for the Iowa Hawkeye's.

The competition that he will face in a Hawkeye's uniform includes some of the best in the nation, such as Ohio State, Michigan, and Indiana. But even those names don't intimidate him.

"Coach (Fran) McCaffery is a very confident coach, and I know that he will lead us to accomplish great things," said White at his signing on Friday. "He uses a system that spreads the floor, and I think that will specifically benefit my overall game."

For a big man, White's jump shot is above average. He's also climbing the rankings among Strongsville's all time rebounders. He played forward and center in high school, but is widening his horizons to playing the three position. Anything he can do to add to his repertoire is a plus.

What is also a nice bonus for Aaron is that his best friend and long time fellow Mustang teammate Ray Hamilton will also be attending Iowa on a football scholarship. The dynamic duo on the basketball court have been teammates for a number of years, and even though they are headed their separate ways in which sport they are playing, both will endure the same elements of having to prepare for games, and manage a fully loaded class schedule.

"We will be experiencing a lot of the same struggles even though Ray's will be on the gridiron whereas mine will be on the court," White said. "Ultimately, those mental battles are one in the same, and I know I can turn to Ray for strength, and vice versa."

White is looking to know his opponents inside and out by watching film, and in doing so,

he expects to make an impact right out of the gate. "I think that is how I can gain an upper hand over my opponents is by watching a lot of film. Knowing what the opposition is good at doing and what they are not is paramount."

Though the upcoming road for White is exciting, there is still plenty of high school basketball left to be played; in fact, and entire season. White still has his eyes set on this year. Strongsville had been knocked out of the playoff tournament early in recent years, and White and company look to avenge those disappointments. The Mustangs are getting a few injury plagued contributors back this season, and will make a run at the Northeast Ohio Valley Conference crown, and beyond. The Mustangs open their season at Olmsted Falls to battle the Bull Dogs on December 3rd.

Really, Wisconsin? 83 Points??

Montee Ball, starting in place of the injured John Clay, ran for three first-half touchdowns, as sixth-ranked Wisconsin pummeled Indiana, 83-20, at Camp Randall Stadium.

Ball finished with 167 yards on 22 carries and James White added two rushing scores for the Badgers (9-1, 5-1 Big Ten), who have won five games in a row since suffering their lone loss of the season at Michigan State on October 2. Clay missed Saturday's contest with a sprained knee.

Scott Tolzien completed 15-of-18 passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns for Wisconsin, which has won the last six meetings with the Hoosiers.

Indiana quarterback Ben Chappell threw for 63 yards and one touchdown before leaving in the second quarter with a hip injury.

The Hoosiers (4-6, 0-6) were dealt a fourth straight loss.

Colt McCoy's every play vs. Patriots

While you're wondering if whether or not the Browns will beat the Jets, you should watch this video. Brought to you by the NFL Scouting Channel on YouTube (soon to be frozen, I'm sure). McCoy is the man, this video is proof.

Rob Ryan Doesn't Back Down

Well the Ryan clan sure isn't bashful. After Rex's amazing dress-up press conference earlier in the week, the ball was in Rob's court. Earlier tonight, when asked about the Browns "turning a corner" he had this to say:

"This win will go a long way for that, we need that…When we beat this team here, we will be 4-5.''

I can't wait for Sunday.

Jimmie Johnson in Unfamiliar Position With Two Races to Go

You don't win an unprecedented four consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championships without being calm, cool and collected. And competitive.

And Jimmie Johnson's two championship challengers are about to find out just how competitive the four-time champ can be.

For the first time since he started piling up the titles in 2006, Johnson is trailing in the standings with two races remaining in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Denny Hamlin swiped the championship lead last week with a win at Texas Motor Speedway and now holds a 33-point advantage on Johnson and 59 on Kevin Harvick.

Johnson couldn't be more blunt in his assessment.

"It sucks,'' Johnson said. "I don't want to be there (in second).''

It's an unfamiliar and unwelcome position for Johnson, but not insurmountable. As he reminded reporters Friday before qualifying at Phoenix International Raceway, no two championship runs are ever the same.

Kevin Harvick Says Denny Hamlin's Crew Chief Stuck Foot in Mouth

Kevin Harvick said Friday at Phoenix International Raceway that Denny Hamlin's crew chief, Mike Ford, stuck his foot in his mouth with his bold, confident statements last weekend after Hamlin won the race at Texas. The victory gave Hamlin the lead in the Chase to the Sprint Cup by 33 points over Jimmie Johnson, with Harvick close behind, 59 points back.

"I think Mike should take his own advice to his driver and not insert your foot into your mouth when you don't do something that winds up being something that you say it should be," Harvick said. "I think the comments that he made after the race about being better than the 48 (Jimmie Johnson) team and all that stuff, I think he's just trying to stir stuff up."

It's clear that the fender-rubbing has become just as intense in the media centers as on the race tracks as the Chase comes down to the finish with a tight points race between the three top contenders.

Ford was critical of Johnson's team for replacing the pit crew and said the 48's goal "is more about trying to win a championship for the company and not the team."

He went on to say: "I think our race team is better than their race team, and I'm not going to tiptoe around them."

Said Harvick, "The only good thing that comes from being cocky like that is you better win because if you don't, you're going to have to answer a lot of questions about your comments when you get done. I think when you're trying to intimidate the guy who's won four championships in a row, I think you might need to go rethink your strategy and just go out and worry about racing because it's not really something that was probably necessary."

Carl Edwards Breaks Phoenix Track Record to Win Pole

Carl Edwards set a track record at the one-mile Phoenix International Raceway on his way to winning the pole position for Sunday's Kobalt Tools 500k.

Edwards ran a lap of 136.389 mph in his No. 99 Roush-Fenway Racing Ford to win the top starting spot. In the process, he broke the six-year-old track record of 135.854 mph, set by Ryan Newman in 2004.

"It was a good run," Edwards said. "The car was very easy to drive. Everything kind of lined up for us with this pole run. We had a great draw. The car was perfect and we focused on qualifying the whole time."

The seven-year veteran has 16 career victories, but hasn't won since the season-ending race at Homestead in 2008, a year he won nine races.

"Hopefully, we can end that here," he said. "There would be no better place. I love racing here and these last two races of the season, we'd like to go into the winter with a win, that's for sure."

Miami, Rest Of The World, Finding Out About The True LeBron James

Clevelanders found out the hard way last year what LeBron James was all about. Now Miami is too.

I promise not to make this column a daily LeBron James diatribe.  Really.  I let the Heat's collapse against the Jazz go without so much as a tweet.  I couldn't help my self this morning, however, after another Heat home loss, this time to the Celtics, when the LeBron James we all remember came out with excuses for failure, non of which involved pointing the finger right at himself.

Credit Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski with being consistent.  Woj has been hard on James for years - much with the wrath of Cavaliers fans bearing down on him.  What is becoming apparent, however, is that Woj was right.  We found that out here in Cleveland during the Playoffs last year.  Now, in Miami, they are finding it out too.

After getting buried by the Celtics, again, in a game that saw LeBron fill the stat sheet but come up small at the end, LeBron blamed not himself, no, he blamed his coach.

"For myself, 44 minutes is too much," James declared. "I think Coach Spo knows that. Forty minutes for D-Wade is too much. We have to have as much energy as we can to finish games out."

My favorite part? LeBron drags D-Wade into the argument as well.  Not only was LeBron tired at the end of the game, but Wade was as well.  I'm sure Wade appreciates his BFF questioning his endurance as well.

No, LeBron never seems to take responsibility.  I'll never forget his reaction to the joke that was his Game 5 performance against the Celtics.  "I spoil the fans with my play."  Remember that??

Look at the Heat nowadays and you see the same type of bad habits that killed the Cavaliers.  LeBron and four other guys, all watching LeBron.  No movement, no teamwork.  It is almost as if the Heat have realized what we all knew to be true - LeBron needs the ball to be effective and his play on both ends of the floor depends on it.

The thing is, no team knows it better than the Boston Celtics.  They know to just let LeBron score his points, let him hold the ball ever possession, let LeBron essentially take his teammates completely out of the game.  Sure, some nights James will win those battles.  Some nights his teammates will step up despite LeBron, but over the long haul - a season or seven game playoff series - it won't last.

Sure, the stat geeks will see 35-10-9 for LeBron and say his teammates let him down.  Just like Cleveland.  The problem is, those teammates are D-Wade and Chris Bosh.  What now?

The Heat are going to win a lot of games because the balance in the NBA is so tilted.  They won't win the five or six championships they so eagerly claimed back in July, among the smoke and fireworks when all of about 13,000 bandwagon-jumping Miami 'sports-fans' welcomed the Fake-3 to South Beach.  With a 'leader' like LeBron James, they won't even win one.

Five For Penn State: What You Need To Know As The Bucks Play the Nittany Lions

1. Matt McGloin. The redshirt junior quarterback has replaced true freshman Robert Bolden as Penn State's starter after putting together two strong performances in consecutive weeks. McGloin threw for 475 yards and five touchdowns in the two games, and perhaps most importantly, did not turn the ball over once in either contest. He will face a new and more difficult challenge this Saturday when he takes on the Silver Bullets in the first road start of his career. Performing well against Michigan and Northwestern is one thing, but continuing that strong performance against a defense the caliber of Ohio State's is a more difficult challenge. If Penn State hopes to score enough points to win, McGloin will have to play well.

2. Defensive Philosophy. Penn State defensive coordinator Tom Bradley is intrinsically identifiable with his 4-3 Over, Cover 3 defensive philosophy. After taking over defensive duties for PSU, Bradley refined his system to a core philosophy that emphasizes avoidance of big plays, tough run defense, and sound zone coverage. There is nothing schematically unique to what the Lions do, but their strict adherence and belief in the system has created a distinct "brand" of defense tied to the Penn State defense. For more on the defensive scheme, see Along the Olentangy's breakdown.

3. Nittany Kittens in Columbus. Over the past twenty years, Penn State has played eight games at Ohio Stadium, and the most points they've scored in any one of those games is 13. The Nittany Lions average eight points a game on offense when playing in Columbus, and they are only 7-1 in Ohio Stadium since joining the Big Ten, with the lone victory taking place on their last visit, in 2008. In that win, Penn State was able to rely on a great defense and poor Ohio State offensive play to minimize the effect of their own poor offensive play. Ohio State's offense is one of the best in the Big Ten this season, while Penn State's defense is not nearly as good as it was in 2008. Clearly, there's a trend to struggle offensively on the trip west from State College, and the Nittany Lions can't rely on their defense to bail them out again this season.

4. Jim Tressel's Bye Week History. I do not accept that this is anything but the result of small sample size and coincidence, yet Jim Tressel's 2-4 record after bye weeks is still worth a mention, if not simply because so many people are pointing to it as an issue. Ohio State's last loss after a bye week, in a bit of cosmic convergence, came against Penn State in 2005, although it's important to note that the game was in Happy Valley, and against a much better Penn State team. And, like Jim Tressel said in his press conference on Tuesday, if Ohio State wins this weekend it will become a total non-issue, and if they lose, it will take on importance even if it really is a meaningless coincidence.

5. Ohio State's defensive line vs. Penn State's offensive line. This was the defining matchup in last season's game, with the Ohio State defensive line mauling the linemen from Penn State. The Nittany Lions reverted to Nittany Kittens again, with a nonexistent running game and trouble keeping QB Daryll Clark upright. Ohio State's defensive line does not have as much depth as last season, but Penn State's offensive line has struggled against every talented defensive line they've faced. They will have to raise their game this weekend if Penn State is to come away with the upset.

Who I like, New England version

Heath Miller returned to practice Friday for the Steelers, so that's one problem averted.

New England's defense is awful, having given up 400 or more yards in half of the Patriots' games this season. This isn't your father's New England club.

The Patriots can score, to be sure, but they've also limited just one opponent to under 20 points this season.

Tom Brady is also hobbled with a foot injury, something the Steelers may be able to take advantage of.

Finally, New England's pass rush has generated just 13 sacks. Even with two new starters on the left side of the Steelers' line, the Patriots may not be able to take full advantage.

I'll give a nod to Brady to keep things close, but I like the Steelers to win, 27-24.

Break It Down: Browns Will Need Big Plays To Beat Jets

 "Brother...can you spare a third-down conversion?"

In a game ripe with matchups between ex-employees, it may be the clash of New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan and Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan that generates the most on-field fun when their teams meet this Sunday at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

The twin brothers will face off for the first time since Rex took over the Jets in his own inimitable style in 2009, mixing press-room hyperbole with playtime chaos en route to a berth in the AFC Championship Game. Meanwhile, the lesser-known Rob is climbing the hot list of prospective coaches and could face his brother in a head coach vs. head coach showdown by this time next year.

The Jets' boss said he is ready to unleash some trash talk.

"I'm sure we'll talk about each other's children, wives, whatever," Rex Ryan said. "It's going to get ugly."

The players, meanwhile, will feel the wrath of the rivalry on the field.

"If he's half of what Rex is, it's going to be a major pain for 60 minutes," Jets center Nick Mangold said of Cleveland's Ryan.

Oh, and the man Rex replaced in New York -- Eric Mangini -- has landed as the "other" Ryan's boss with the Browns. The remaining Jets from the Mangini era have acknowledged the impending matchup during game week run-up, but hardly showered their former boss with praise for his work during a 23-25 tenure from 2006-08 that included one playoff appearance.

"There's no hatred with us as the New York Jets organization (from) when Mangini was here," said cornerback Darrelle Revis, a 2007 draft pick who played two years under him in New York. "Smart guy. He did all he could. Now he's in a different place. I'm sure he's looking forward to this game."

The Jets head to the weekend in first place in the AFC East Division, leading the also 6-2 New England Patriots by virtue of an early-season head-to-head win. New York is coming off a 23-20 come-from-behind overtime victory at Detroit this past Sunday.

Cleveland, meanwhile, is 3-5 and third in the AFC North, three games in back of the front-running tandem of Pittsburgh and Baltimore.

"It's going to be special," Mangini said in reference to meeting the Jets seven days after facing another former team in the Patriots, for whom he'd once been an assistant under Bill Belichick. "And last week was special, too."

Cleveland defeated New England by a 34-14 count last week, the team's second consecutive impressive win. Prior to a Week 8 bye, the Browns handed defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans a 30-17 loss in the Superdome on Oct. 24.

Mangini said he's more at ease in all facets of the job in Ohio, particularly facing a media horde less venomous than the one in the Big Apple.

"It's less scripted for me (in Cleveland)," he said. "I know what I want to say. I know the points I want to get across. Not reading it as much as just feeling it and getting the same point across, but from the heart. I think the best thing that I've learned is to take the best things from the people that I've been with who are outstanding, but do it in my way. It's more effective, more authentic."

SERIES HISTORY

The Browns hold an 12-7 advantage in their all-time series with the Jets and have won the last two matchups, the most recent being a 24-18 decision in the Meadowlands in 2007. New York also dropped a 20-13 result in its last visit to Cleveland, which took place in 2006, and last bested the Browns with a 10-7 triumph in Ohio back in 2004.

In addition to the regular-season series, the teams played a memorable postseason game, with Cleveland scoring a 23-20 overtime win at home in a 1986 AFC Divisional Playoff.

Mangini has never previously faced his former employers as a head coach and will be opposing his successor in New York for the first time as well. This will also be Rex Ryan's first meeting with the Browns as a head man.

WHEN THE JETS HAVE THE BALL

It hasn't been as pretty lately, but Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is nonetheless 4-0 on the road this season and completed 56.2 percent (68-of-121) of his passes for 951 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions with a 90.6 passer rating. The team is 5-0 when he throws at least one touchdown pass, and the 336 yards he amassed against the Lions last week were a career best. Things have gone better when Sanchez has turned and handed the ball to others, however, as the Jets have a rushing offense that's fourth in the league with an average of 148 yards per week. In five career games against Cleveland, running back LaDainian Tomlinson has averaged 129.8 yards per game and scored eight touchdowns. Meanwhile, backfield mate Shonn Greene is just 69 yards short of 1,000 for his career. Wideout Braylon Edwards continues the homecoming theme, returning to Cleveland for the first time since being traded by the Browns to New York last season. The third overall selection by the Browns in the 2005 draft, he had a 74-yard touchdown catch against Detroit. Fellow receiver Santonio Holmes recorded his first 100-yard game as a Jet last week, while kick returner Brad Smith is first in the AFC and second in the league with a 30.7-yard average per return.

Among the Cleveland defenders, cornerback Eric Wright had his first interception of the season and tackle Ahtyba Rubin chipped in with his first career sack in last week's victory over the Patriots. Several of their teammates have a New York pedigree, as linebackers Eric Barton (2004-08) and David Bowens (2007-08), end Kenyon Coleman (2007-08) and safety Abram Elam (2007-08) all once played with the Jets. On the numbers, Cleveland has been touched for 105.9 yards per week on the ground and 240.5 per game through the air for a generous 346.4 yards per game total. Additionally, the team has produced 14 sacks and nine interceptions, while foes have gained ground at a 5.5 yards per play clip. Free safety T.J. Ward has a team-best 60 tackles, while linebacker Marcus Benard's 4 1/2 sacks and cornerback Sheldon Brown's and Bowens' two interceptions each also are tops among Browns players.

WHEN THE BROWNS HAVE THE BALL

As much as the Jets have succeeded on the road, the Browns are beginning to mirror it at home, having won five of their last seven along Lake Erie. After downing the Saints and Patriots in succession, Cleveland seeks a third straight game with 30-plus points. The offensive resurgence has been largely triggered by rookie quarterback Colt McCoy, who's 2-1 as a starter and posted a career-best 101.6 passer rating last week. He scored his first rushing touchdown against New England as well, but spent much of the rest of the time handing off to burly runner Peyton Hillis, who rumbled for his third 100-yard game of the season with a career-high 184 yards. Hillis also tied a career- high with two touchdowns and is tied for third in the league with seven scores this year. On the outside, wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi has averaged 17 yards per catch over 47 career receptions and ex-Jet Chansi Stuckey -- a seventh-round pick of New York in 2008 -- had his first career rushing touchdown last week. Also, tight end Ben Watson is averaging 16.3 yards per catch over his last three games.

Individually, chalk Jets defensive end Trevor Pryce as one who'll relish Sunday's matchup, as he's posted 7 1/2 sacks in eight career games against the Browns while then with the Ravens. Statistically speaking, the Jets are allowing 307.1 yards per game, including just 87.4 on the ground and a 3.3- yard average per rush attempt, and 219.8 via the pass while recording 17 sacks and five interceptions. Linebacker David Harris leads New York with 57 tackles, while end Shaun Ellis has a team-best 3 1/2 sacks and cornerback Antonio Cromartie a Gang Green-leading two interceptions.

OVERALL ANALYSIS

The Browns have gone into two straight games as heavy underdogs and made so- called experts look foolish. In spite of that resurgence and a home-field advantage, it's difficult to make a case going in that they should beat a team generally considered among the conference's -- if not the league's -- elite.  Of course, the way the Jets have played the last month - 8 turnovers in 3 games - they are anything but elite.  I was in the building last weekend when the Browns dominated the Patriots - the place was rocking.  Look for the Browns to ride that wave and shock the world again!

PREDICTION: Cleveland Browns 23 - New York Jets 20

Clevelanders found out the hard way last year what LeBron James was all about. Now Miami is too.

I promise not to make this column a daily LeBron James diatribe.  Really.  I let the Heat's collapse against the Jazzgo without so much as a tweet.

"I spoil the fans with my play".  Remember that??

Sure, the stat-geeks will see 35-10-9 for LeBron and say his teammates let him down.  Just like Cleveland.  The problem is, those teammates are D-Wade and Chris Bosh.  What now?

The Heat are going to win a lot of games because the balance in the NBA is so tilted.  They won't win the 5 or 6 Championships they so eagerly claimed back in July, among the smoke and fireworks when all of about 13,000 bandwagon-jumping Miami 'sports-fans' welcomed the Fake-3 to South Beach.  With a 'leader' like LeBron James, they won't even win one.

cheap chanel The fall of the prices.html

Press comments, Thursday August 13 cheap chanel, on the fall of the prices.

MIDI LIBRE
Jean-Laurent Trick

"(…) The prices lower this summer. Live the balances and the premium with breakage. But in large distribution, they increase. Seek the error. The tariffs of the restorers them as slightly bent as it is on our beaches or in the back-country. What was well less. And fall of the VAT drank it. If one believes Herve Novelli of it, Secretary of State to the Trade and SME we are on the right track but there are still efforts to make. For the restorers gets along. Because even at the restaurant the French, the consumers who we are, do not have really the impression that there is more money in their porte-monnaie. The purchasing power is always in Bern. In particular in the area which is offered an unemployment rate equivalent to that of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais to 12,2. What to moderate the unquestionable hope brought by a possible revival. But not of what really to see pointing the end of the tunnel when one is employed in Cameron with Beziers or Dell in Montpellier. Or fruit producer in Roussillon. The damage is of size. The wounds will be long to be closed again, the indelible traces. An evolution of our lifestyles is moving. The error would be to believe that tomorrow all will be still like front."

THE MOUNTAIN
Xavier Panon

"When its balance announces a fall of weight, or its thermometer that of the fever, no one does not complain any. Not more than of INSEE when it confirms a reduction in the prices the consumer, already observed in May for the first time since glosses. (…) But the reverse of this medal of the light retreat of inflation, it is the risk of deflation, dreaded spiral of fall of the prices but also of the wages. Fortunately, the experts are there! The prices, to start with those of energy, will set out again with the rise. It was thus too beautiful. These falls which one celebrates today will not last! But of others, on the services, are profiled and promise a less merry re-entry. After the booklet has which makes gray mine, the tax niches are promised with blows of plane, as the advantages reprocesses mothers. Because our Ministers of Finance will track the least million everywhere. At the painful hour of the accounts (of the country), employment being always with the fall, the efforts, including those of the banks, will have to be last with the sieve of justice and equity."

ALSACE
Patrick Fluckiger

"(…) The pressure on the wages is done strong in many companies, and even if Bercy affirms that" deflation is not on the radar screens ", one has to admit that the respite obtained on the prices is already cut down, in whole or part, by the stagnation of the incomes. The radar screens of the government had not seen coming either the financial crash from the last fall. (…) The second flat concerning the fall in the prices of July relates to the restoration. Here, a consequent reduction would not have had anything the unhealthy one, since the loads, so much decriees in France, were decreased in strong proportions. The VAT passed from 19,6 to 5,5 in the sector, and one could hope for a reduction of the additions more marked than small the 1,3 which was recorded (0,7 only for the coffees!). Only half of the restorers played the game by reducing the invoice of the customers, often in a tiny way, and on some carefully selected products. Here a new proof that it is always the customer – and more largely the employee – who is the turkey of the joke of the prices: when they go up, its incomes have evil to follow, and when they go down, it hardly benefits from it."

THE LORRAINE REPUBLICAN
Jean-Michel Helvig

"The posting of a new fall of the prices is a political aubaine for the government. Before the re-entry, it can draw arguments there to neutralize criticisms to its recent measures such remuneration of the booklet has, the VAT reduced of the restaurants and coffees, like various tariff increases to come like that from electricity. Nevertheless, it goes from there from the statistics like diplomacy, it is in the details that the devil niche. And the consumer does not find himself there necessarily. The negative index of the prices the consumer recorded in July is explained" mainly "according to the formula of INSEE by a substantial fall in the prices of clothing and shoes. Thus one could be equipped in an advantageous way thanks to the balances with summer, but what will it be products necessary to the equipment of autumn (…)

Chevrolet Back to IndyCar Series With Roger Penske

The IZOD IndyCar Series announced Friday that Chevrolet will partner with the sport's legendary Team Penske race team for a return to Indy car competition in 2012.

The Penske cars will have a new twin-turbocharged direct-injected V-6 engine using renewable E85 ethanol fuel that will be built jointly by General Motors and Ilmor Engineering. Team owner Roger Penske,a partner with Ilmor, is the first owner to commit to the new power plant giving the series two engine manufacturers (also Honda) for the first time since 2005.

"With a competitor on the race track, we're going to see the game move up,'' said Penske, who is credited with brokering the negotiations that brought Chevy back to open-wheel racing.

Team Penske driver and three-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves, who won his first two Indy 500s (2001-2002) driving a Chevrolet, joined a Who's Who's list of the sport's most celebrated drivers past and present, team owners and Chevrolet executives at the announcement in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum.

"Turbo charge is back, baby,'' Castroneves said. "It's about fun and as a driver it will be enjoyable again. And as a fan, they are going to see competition. You'll cheer whatever manufacturer you're looking for. It's a win-win situation.

"We are going to create excitement again and make people want to come back.''

Cycling Alberto Contador suspended after a suspect control

"The runner vintage chanel bags, which had already put an end to its season before the result is known, nevertheless was formally suspended, on a purely provisional basis, as the code of the world Agency envisages it antidopage", the document adds.

by Ian Ransom

Gregory Schwartz and Pierre Serisier for the French service, published by Gilles Trequesser

"As soon as he was prevented by the UCI, on August 24, Alberto Contador stated that a food contamination was the only possible explanation to what passed", said the agent of the runner in an official statement relayed by the Spanish media.

CHIPPED IMAGE

"The consulted experts also announced that a food contamination was at the origin of the business, by taking in particular into account the number of tests (antidopage) undergone by Alberto Contador lasting the Tour de France."

It is likely to seriously chip the image of the Spanish, runner 27 years old, considered as more endowed with its generation after its victories in the Grande Boucle in 2007,2009 and 2010.

"This made it possible to determine the exact moment to which the substance appeared, just as the very small detected quantity, which excludes any other source or required objective."

This revelation on victorious triple of the Tour de France carries however a new blow to the professional cycling, whose authorities endeavoured to restore the image after a multitude of scandals of doping.

Before the runner is not expressed, its agent had already evoked this track.

The first Chinese professional cyclist, Li Fuyu, former fellow-member of Lance Armstrong in the RadioShack team, were suspended in April on a purely provisional basis by the UCI after being controlled positive with this same substance.

One will need "new scientific investigations before being able to draw the conclusions", and these examinations will take time, adds the UCI without more comments.

The representatives of the Spanish team present at the championships of the world, in Geelong in Australia, refused to comment on this revelation. "There is nothing to say for the moment", declared a spokesperson.

"Since then, it was placed between the hands of the authorities of cycling, trustful that this extremely serious problem, now made public, could be solved."

"I will wait until the final analyses before formulating are finished an opinion", known as for its part in an official statement Australian Cadel Evans, which prepares to defend its world title on its grounds.

The concentration of the product was "400 times less large than than the laboratories accredited by the AMA must be able to detect."

FOOD ORIGIN ACCORDING TO CONTADOR

The Spaniard, who gained in July its third Tour de France, was controlled at the time of the second day of rest of the test, and the sample B confirmed the presence of clenbuterol, a prohibited anabolic, said the UCI in an official statement.

Alberto Contador allotted the result of the analysis to a food contamination.

"Being given this very weak concentration and of coordination with the AMA, the UCI at once launched the adequate procedures of management of the results, of which analysis of a sample B, which confirmed the first result."

"It is possible to play with fire without burning itself. If that had been an obvious case of doping, it would have been revealed as of the following week. The food contamination comes from a piece of meat from Spain", it declared with the Spanish radio Cadena Cope.

MELBOURNE (Reuters) – Alberto Contador was suspended on a purely provisional basis after having undergone a "unfavourable analysis" with the clenbuterol on a urinary sample taken at the time of last the Tour de France, announced Thursday the international Union cyclist (UCI).

The clenbuterol, employed to treat the respiratory disorders and hypertension, improves transport of oxygen by blood and makes it possible to increase the muscular mass while reducing the lubricating mass. Several positive cyclists controlled with this product were already prohibited of competition.

Kurt Busch Is Serious Enough About NHRA to Get a License

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. -- Drag racing has fast become more than just a hobby to Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge. In fact, he is as serious about the sport as he is about racing in NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series.

So it was on a beautiful late fall day this week at Rockingham Dragway that Busch earned his NHRA Pro Stock license, taking the next step forward in his pursuit of going straight and not turning left. The Las Vegas native ran fast enough in a Roy Hill-owned Pro Stock to be eligible to drive in the NHRA's third-level series behind Top Fuel and Funny Cars.

There was no fanfare. No champagne. No cheering crowds -- only a few high fives and warranted smiles between the empty concrete, steel, and wood bleachers looking on aside both the left and the right lanes.

There weren't even any other competitors on site. It was Busch, his crew, the track prep crew and Roy Hill, a former drag racer and now drag racing school owner.

For three days, Busch and his crew -- all dedicated to drag racing -- worked under the tutelage of Hill and were put through the paces to ensure that come 2011, the 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion and his team would be ready for whatever might transpire on the drag strip.

Tomlin talks about offensive line

Mike Tomlin said Wednesday that Jonathan Scott is the team's left tackle moving forward and that there are no plans to move right tackle Flozell Adams to replace injured Max Starks.

Tomlin said that he likes what he's seen of Adams at right tackle and doesn't want to change that. The team also has confidence in Scott.

It also appears that Ramon Foster will start next to Scott at guard instead of Doug Legursky.

Foster started four games in place of Chris Kemoeatu in 2009 and the Steelers like him on the left side.

Still think the Ravens don't have any holes?

For the people coming onto this blog and saying the Ravens have no holes, did you catch the game against Atlanta Thursday night?

Baltimore's pass defense was awful. The pass blocking was mediocre. And Joe Flacco was pretty bad as well.

The bottom line is that while the Steelers have their problems, there is no perfect team in the NFL this season. Period.

There are five or six pretty good teams, but they all have issues.

The two that get hot down the stretch will be in the Super Bowl.

Hockey Night in Washington: Caps vs. Islanders, October 13, 2010

Backstrom Roloson
Nick Backstrom and Dwayne Roloson from Nov. 2009. Photo by Pete Silver

I'll be at Verizon Center tonight tweeting live during tonight's game between the Caps and Islanders.  Click here for a link to my Twitter feed.  I ought to be up and running between 6:45 and 7:00 p.m. U.S. EDT.  Hope you join me then.

POSTSCRIPT: The story tonight was a lot like it was against Ottawa on Monday: Caps allow an inferior team to hang around until Alex Ovechkin saved the day.  Some other thoughts:

  • Nicklas Backstrom might have scored the game winning goal and been named the first star of the game, but it was Michal Neuvirth who won the coveted hard hat from his teammates.  The rookie had 23 saves on 24 shots, and came up big more than a few times, perhaps no bigger than when he stopped Matt Moulson on a breakaway in the third period.  "I was just trying to stay patient. That was a big save for us," said the beaming rookie after the game.
  • Head coach Bruce Boudreau resisted the bait when asked about a budding goalie controversy, making it clear that Semyon Varlamov would play once he was ready, but that Neuvirth was clearly making the case in these first four games to keep the job himself.
  • Speaking of Backstrom, he finally broke through and got his first points of the season, assisting on Ovechkin's game-tying goal and getting a tip in for the game winner.  Separated from Ovechkin by Boudreau in the first period, the pair were reunited in the second when the team woke from its slumber to put 15 shots on net—with the big strike being Ovechkin's shot that beat Dwayne Roloson to the glove side to tie things up.
  • Boudreau took a timeout after a Blake Comeau penalty to stress to his team that they needed to simplify things on the power play.  Boudreau said that when his power play isn't working he likes to fall back on his father's advice: shoot the puck wide and look for tips.  He got what he was looking for with an Ovechkin cannon shot from just inside the blue line that deflected off Backstrom's leg for the game winner.  The  score was just the second power play goal of the season on 17 chances.
  • As much as the power play has struggled, the penalty kill, one of the areas of concern in the offseason, continues to be perfect.  Opponents have had 15 power play opportunities against Washington this season and have yet to score.
  • DJ King got on the score sheet with his first fighting major of the season, a tussle with Trevor Gillies just 2:47 into the first period.  The locals were clearly pleased.

  • While the Islanders don't ice the same level of talent Washington does, head coach Scott Gordon clearly gets everything he can out of his young lineup.   They outhit the Caps and won 59% of their faceoffs. Considering that the Islanders were without power play quarterback Mark Streit, former #1 pick Jonathan Taveres, suspended defenseman James Wisniewski and winger Kyle Okposo, they acquitted themselves well.  While they're missing plenty of talent, it's clear the Islanders have a very simple system and they execute it well.  Against about 28 other teams in the league, that's going to be enough, but not tonight.
  • Mike Green left the game in third period and didn't return.  Boudreau told the press after the game that Green suffered a stinger, and is "day-to-day."  Check out the video for the sequence where he got hurt:

  • Why Do Sportswriters Want to Force Older Athletes Out the Door?

Yesterday in the New York Times, Bill Rhoden used an entire column to publicly lament the fact that Brett Favre didn't have the decency to retire from the NFL before his legacy was tarnished.  That led Slate's Jack Shafer to point out how all too many sportswriters seem to want to push older athletes out the door and into their dotage.

Then again, maybe not everyone feels that way.  All the way back in 2002, I wrote the following when more than a few reporters were telling Mark Messier it was time to hang up the skates:

When you get to the point where Messier is in his career, it isn't long before you start to hear calls for retirement from sports writers who never spent a moment of their lives upright on a pair of skates with a stick in their hands. We begin to hear calls for protecting the "legacy" of one's career, and not wanting to sully the "memory" of their greatness with a few sub-par seasons during the time when there are fewer days ahead than behind.

Well, screw that. If Messier wants to play, I hope he does until Rangers management has to pry the skates off his cold, dead feet. And if that means some punk in the Rangers farm system needs to cool his heels, or more likely, work that much harder to break into the NHL, then fine by me too. Messier is simply one of the greatest ever to play the game, and every day he's with us, the league is better off. Welcome back Mark, even if it is for only one more year.

As it would turn out, Messier would play for two more seasons, driving Rangers management batty in the process as his decision made doling out ice time all the more problematic. But the point still holds—Messier went out on his own terms and his own schedule, not one dictated by a sportswriter looking to fill some extra column inches.
