Elliott Sadler Wins Texas Pole

Elliott Sadler, who has been plagued by misfortune all year and is expected to join the Nationwide series fulltime next year, had an end-of-the-season boost Friday when he won the pole position for the AAA Texas 500.

Sadler captured the top starting spot with a lap of 195.397 mile per hour at the ultrafast 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway.

In a Sprint Cup field usually separated by the tiniest margins, Sadler was more than two tenths of a second faster than Biffle, and even faster than everyone else.

"That is a really fast lap for me. I got all I can get out of it," Sadler said after his run.

Greg Biffle, a Chase for the Sprint Cup competitor, qualified second at 193.653 mph. CArl Edwards was third at 193.646 mph, followed by Juan Pablo Montoya at 193.749 mph. David Ragan was fifth at 193.424.
